“Love handles” is a nice name for a serious problem: the fatty deposits on the back and sides of the waist. It’s not just unattractive, they’re unhealthy too. By making minor changes in your lifestyle, you can finally eliminate love handles.

Love handles are an indication of too much abdominal fat. It is a persistent and hazardous type of fat, which can lead to metabolic disorders and even serious disease. Reduction of fat around the mid-section to reduce the chance of contracting diabetes or having a heart attack.

If you’ve thought about getting rid of nothing but your abdominal fat, forget it. You won’t be able to eliminate the fat from just one area. Build Stronger Obliques

Obliques are the muscles that run along both sides of the abdomen. The form set of muscles that are usually called the 6-pack.  Obliques gave us the strength to turn and twist if need be.  Regrettably, they are sometimes hidden in love handles.

Building a stronger obliques can help you burn more calories and will expose firm abdominal muscles when you work off the love handles.

You can get rid of love handles quickly by using the exercises recommended by the American Council on Exercise such as: bicycle crunches, the captain’s chair leg raises and vertical leg crunches which seem to work the best.

Bicycle crunches involve lying down on your back and doing crunches-twists while pedaling your legs like you are riding a bicycle. The captain’s chair leg raises require the use of the captain’s chair, which may be found in most gyms. Vertical leg crunches are like regular crunches, but your legs are elevated perpendicular to the ground.

Eat Fat Burning Foods

Some foods, particularly those that contain sugar and sodium, add inches to the waist. If you want to get rid of love handles, you’ll have to eat more foods that fight abdominal fat. Doctors recommend fats that are healthy for the heart, like those found in olive oil, nuts and salmon; 3 servings of calcium from green, leafy vegetables or dairy products; and a lot of fiber from fruit, vegetables and whole grains.

These foods are digested slowly, so they leave you feeling satisfied longer. Add green tea to your diet for burning additional fat and an additional energy boost. Three cups a day will increase your metabolism and boost your immune system.

Check Your Clothes

One more trick to get rid of love handles: make sure your clothes fit correctly. Tight clothing may create the illusion of love handles, even on thin people. If you have worked hard to lose your love handles, don’t spoil the effect by squeezing into pants that make you feel fat!
