Fat Burning Foods

Believe it or not, there really are fat burning foods that can speed up your metabolism! When you eat the right foods, you are able to deceive your body into burning its extra fat.

Here are some of the tastiest and the most convenient fat burning foods you can find:

Citrus and ginger

When you were young, and you felt like you were getting a cold, your mom probably told you to take a lot of vitamin C. Vitamin C is probably the most popular immunity booster, but it has another benefit too: it allows you to burn fat faster!

Vitamin C strengthens the fat burning power in two ways. First, it accelerates the metabolism of fats. Also, it seems to have an impact on the storage of fats. Citric acid breaks down molecules of fat, making them more likely to be flushed from the body and less likely to build up.

Citrus fruits tend to be one of the better fat burning foods because of their Vitamin C content. Try to add different citrus fruits to your diet, such as oranges, lemons and tangerines and limes. It is better to eat fresh fruit than drink the juice, because the fruit contains another fat fighter – fiber. If you don’t really like fruit, try another fat burning food – tomatoes.  To give your metabolism a boost, use fresh tomatoes in your home-made sauces as a metabolic boost.

Ginger is yet another fat burner. It is also a vasodilator, which means that it opens the blood vessels and improves circulation. This may cause a significant increase to the metabolism. Studies have shown that people who eat ginger can lose up to 20% more fat than their others that do not.

Ginger and citrus complement each other, particularly in Asian dishes. Experiment with this exotic combination, and you can lose weight without feeling deprived at all.

Oatmeal and whole grains

Nothing will start your day off right as hot oatmeal.  Because oatmeal is high in fiber it stabilizes the blood glucose level and prevents fatigue and crashes. Oatmeal is thick and will give you satisfaction, and you can add non-fat milk for an even greater advantage of burning fat. (Calcium and fiber are fat burning foods.)

The carbohydrates in oatmeal will give you a quick energy boost helping you to wake up faster.  Because oatmeal carbs are complex and are digested slowly, they will maintain your energy and hold your appetite down for hours after consumption. As a bonus, oatmeal reduces cholesterol, too!

Nuts and beans

Dietary fat burning foods that also help keep your appetite down for long periods are nuts and beans. Just like oatmeal, nuts and beans contain fiber that kick-starts your metabolism. Unlike oatmeal, they also contain significant quantities of the protein. Protein is fundamental for building lean muscle mass, which will burn calories faster than fat tissue.

Extra Virgin olive oil

Doctors have been recommending olive oil for a long time due to its benefits for heart health. Olive oil contains unsaturated fat, which increases the number of high-density lipids in the blood. These lipids, also known as “good cholesterol”, or HDL help to remove bad cholesterol from the arteries. When you replace butter and margarine with olive oil, you can lower your bad cholesterol and increase your metabolism.

You can reach your goals for weight loss faster when eating fat burning foods. Add a little fun cardio exercise and hydration, and you’ll have the optimal success formula!
